"Sure Hope In Uncertain Times"
By Zach Wood
Hebrews 10:23
Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he
who promised is faithful.
Times are hard these days. Sometimes it seems there is nothing to really
hope for or hope in. We are human and we all face uncertain times which
bring us to confusion of who or what to trust in. We know we should trust
God, but sometimes we just feel uncertain when there seems to be no answers.
It feels uncertain when you are told your job is cut.
It feels uncertain when your spouse says, "I'm done".
It feels uncertain when your child says, "I can't stand you!"
It feels uncertain when the doctor says, "There's nothing more I can do".
It feels uncertain when you don't know where your next meal will come
from.
It feels uncertain when the depression doesn't seem to end.
There seems to be so much uncertainty with life. Our feelings and
emotions can go so many different ways and we feel so confused. Sometimes,
you just don't know if you can go another day with so much pain and strife.
In this passage, we see such a message of hope and assurance. We hear a
call to persevere. "But why?" you might ask. What is the point of
persevering when there is so much pain, suffering and heartache going on?
Well, I cannot bring the comfort you need, but I know One who can. Jesus
Christ knows your situation more than any person you can explain it to. He
is right there feeling your pain with you. Whatever you are feeling right
now, this exact moment, He is holding you and carrying you.
Let us hold on to the hope we profess. Don't let go of that hope.
Sometimes, hope is the only thing you can hold onto when nothing else makes
sense. Just that hope that Jesus is there and will never let you go. He is
faithful. Never forget that! When no one else can understand the pain, He
can.
