"Wisdom In His Eyes"
By Zach Wood
Proverbs 8:17-19
I love those who love me, and those who seek me find
me.
With me are riches and honor, enduring wealth and
prosperity.
My fruit is better than fine gold; what I yield
surpasses choice silver.
I find it fascinating, yet startling, how often we make attempts to glean
wisdom from worldly sources. We seem to try everything possible that the
world offers to be wiser and stronger. Resources in the world are good in
some ways, but they never lead to the wisdom that God offers through His
Word. I find myself often turning to the world for wisdom rather than God's
Word.
If we are truly going to be wise, we would seek Him. If we truly wanted
riches, we would seek Him. If we really wanted to prosper in our lives, we
would seek Him. His fruit is more luscious than anything we could find in
an orchard or a farmer's market. What He has for us far outweighs any
amount of silver or gold that we could ever find. God promises that when we
truly seek Him, we will find Him.
So, why are we so persistent in seeking worldly wisdom and not follow His
wisdom? I believe it is because we want so much instantly. We live in that
kind of world now. God's ways are nothing close to happening instantly.
His ways are usually never the way we plan for or imagine. That is how He
works. We know He has the best in store for us, but we still choose to
follow the world because it satisfies our pleasures instantly.
Wisdom's Call. Proverbs chapter eight. What a beautiful passage. I
encourage you to read it and meditate on what is being said. Not just the
verses I have shared with you, but the whole chapter. If we understand and
take time to realize what wisdom truly is, we will find ourselves saying no
more to what the world offers and live for what God promises to give us.
Wisdom in His eyes is only found through reading His Word, praying and
waiting for the riches He longs to give to us.
