"Live The Life"
By Zach Wood
Ephesians 4:1
As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a
life worthy of the calling you have received.
"Lord, am I truly living a life worthy of the calling you have given
me?"
This question has constantly been running through my mind since I read
this passage last week during my devotional time. I have been fixated on
this verse daily and it has spoken so deep in my heart. I call myself a
follower of Christ, a Christian, but do I honestly live life every single
day in a way that is called worthy of the Kingdom? I am ashamed to say that
I do not. My thoughts, my attitude, my words, my actions; all these things
do not completely follow of life worthy of who Christ has called me to be.
I have failed so often and continue to do so, but I know with the blood of
Christ covering me in forgiveness when I come to Him, I am washed clean and
have a new start.
Father, do I live a life worthy of being called Your follower?
Father, do I live a life that pleases and glorifies You?
Lord, do I speak with words of love to others and encourage them?
Father, do my thoughts reflect a life that is worthy of being called Your
child?
Father, do my actions and reactions toward others reflect a sincere love
for Your Kingdom?
I would just ask that each of you take time to pray through these
questions and sincerely ask God to show you what needs changed in your
life. Take time to bring these questions and any others you have before the
Lord in stillness and ask Him to reveal to you what areas you lack. It is
my prayer every day that God would constantly move through me and show me
how He wants me to respond to others and the attitude He wants me to have.
This is all a part of being focused on and in tune with living a life that
is worthy of being a follower.
To end, I would like to share just a part of the chorus of the song by
Michael W. Smith titled "Live The Life" that he wrote many years ago. "For
the world to know the truth, there can be no greater proof, than to live the
life, live the life" Amen! If we are going to call ourselves followers of
Christ, we must sincerely strive to live a daily life that is worthy of
being called a follower. Period.
