"Restore Me"
By Zach Wood
Psalm 51:10-12

Lord, forgive me for not being a completely sold-out servant for you daily.

Lord, forgive me for failing to be the loving, supportive husband that my wife needs me to be.

Lord, forgive me for not being a gentle father at times when I lose my temper with my kids.

Lord, forgive me when I treat my friends with discouraging words.

Lord, forgive me when I lose my temper with my co-workers.

Lord, forgive me when I keep going back to the same dumb mistakes day after day.

Lord, forgive me when my heart is not pure and I am lured by worldly desires.

Lord, forgive me for letting so many distractions come into my day and not remembering that my family is my priority.

These are just a few of the confessions that come from my heart before God each day and week that I live.  I have found that it is so easy to lose focus of what is truly important and I turn to worldly pleasures.  Just as David prays in this Psalm, I daily pray that God would restore my spirit and refresh me for His Kingdom work.  I seek God each morning through my prayer time asking Him to restore and refresh my soul and spirit.  Seems no matter how hard I try to live the way God has called me to live, I still slip up in so many ways.

I am sure most of you could echo this exact feeling and emotion in your daily walk with Jesus Christ.  Maybe you are like me and you just feel like you mess things up each day in some way with your co-workers, family or friends.  I have found that no matter what I am going through, only time and refreshment with Jesus Christ will bring me peace.

I encourage each of you to daily seek God in a quiet place and ask Him to refresh you and to renew you in a way that only He can.  This is no long, drawn out devotional, but just simply a prayer devotional to share what is many times on my heart and encourage you to bring your burdens to the Cross.
