"Source Of True Peace"
By Zach Wood
Psalm 62:1-2
My soul finds rest in God alone; my salvation comes from him.  He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will never be shaken.

It is amazing how often we talk, as Christians, about resting in the assurance that God is in control and will take care of our lives.  Yes, we have a part to play, but God is in control and we have to realize and rely on Him for our continued strength. It is so easy to rely on the world and find whatever ways we can to survive through worldly means.

I have been reading this passage for several days and I just keep meditating on the meaning.  God is the author of our salvation.  In Him alone do we find true meaning of life and peace.  David writes such a beautiful psalm about how we are to remember that God is our rock and salvation and true source of peace in life.  When we come to God and trust in His mighty power, our lives cannot be shaken.  Sure there are hard times and challenging situations, but when we hold close to Him, true peace rests within us.  We can only know that true peace when we are holding firm to God and His Word in our hearts.

What I find remarkable in our walk with Christ is that we actually have the choice to decide whether we want to find rest in God alone or the world.  That freewill choice has always been mind-boggling to me.  I think just because God loves us so much and does not want to be without us, but He still gives us that choice.  If He did not, we would probably always feel forced to be in a relationship with Him.  This way, we have the choice if we want to truly rely on Him or go with the worldly flow.  I will admit, there are times when it seems easier and better to just rely on the world and things to keep me happy and peaceful, but those things never give me constant peace.  Can you relate?

I urge you to keep constant in your relationship with God.  I need to be better at this myself.  By keeping constant, we both will feel closer and more directed in our path when hard times come.  We need to remember daily where our true source of peace lies.....in God alone.
