"Jesus Promises Restoration: And I Will Give You Rest"

Matthew 11:28
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
 
 
Rest is essential for our bodies.  We cannot live very long healthy lives if we do not get the rest we need.  Just as our bodies need rest, our weary souls need rest.  Jesus Christ promises to restore our weary and burdened lives if we accept His invitation.  He doesn’t say “come to me and let me get someone else to help you”.  He wants us to come to Him for the rest our wearied and burdened souls need.
 

John 6:35

Our appetite for rest for our weary and burdened soul is the real bread of life.

 

John 14:6

No one but Jesus offers the only way, the real truth and the fullness of life we need to be refreshed.

 

Psalm 63:1

David writes a beautiful Scripture about his search and earnest thirst and hunger for God. 

He realized, after much learning, that only God can satisfy.

 

John 14:1

Jesus comforts His disciples and wants us to remember that we must ultimately trust in Him. 

Trust in the world leads to confusion and spiritual deterioration. 

 

 

Have you been beaten up by the world?

Do you find yourself chasing after things of the world for relief?

Are you ready to give up trying on your own to find rest and rejuvenation?

 

We can either search the world for rest and relief and become dry, or we can seek Christ and find true relief and rest.  I hope and pray that these three weeks of devotionals focused on this passage has been meaningful.  It is my prayer that each of us seeks and finds rest in Christ alone instead of trusting what the world offers. Jesus invites us to have restoration
