"The Change Encounter"
By Zach Wood
Exodus 33:19
And the LORD said, "I will cause all my goodness to
pass in front of you,
and I will proclaim my name, the LORD, in your
presence.
I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy,
and I will have compassion on whom I will have
compassion.
Several weeks ago, my wife and I attended a Christian music festival
about 5 miles south of where we live. It's an annual festival that started
several years ago and has been such a blessing to attend. Mercy Me was one
of the headliner bands for the weekend. Bart Millard stopped to share some
words with us while they were on stage leading in worship. The words he
spoke just took hold of me. I don't remember the words verbatim, but he
asked us if we had ever had a moment when we were face to face with the
Spirit and were in such awe that we had no choice but to change. I think it
was just the way he said that and the passion from his words that really
struck a chord in me.
Have any of us had that experience lately? That point where you are so
into the worship of God that you are face to face with the Spirit and you
can do nothing else but be changed. As I write this devotional, I just
think about Moses when he asks for the Lord to show His glory. He agrees to
show Moses and passes by him. Moses had an awesome encounter with an
awesome God! Moses had a very close relationship. Do we? Do we have such
a close relationship with the Almighty God that we experience an encounter
that totally changes us?
As the words Bart Millard shared still ring in my ears and heart right
now, I pray they will strike a chord in you as well. Do you desire a true
encounter with the living God? Do not be content with standing in the crowd
and just admiring Him. He wants each and every one of us to truly
experience the life change only He can bring. Moses experienced that. The
question is, do we want to experience the same encounter?
If we truly seek Him, we will experience an awesome change encounter that
we will never forget.
