"Truly Driven By Passion"
By Zach Wood
Acts 4:18-20
Then they called them in again and commanded them not to speak or teach at
all in the name of Jesus.  But Peter and John replied, "Judge for yourselves whether it is right in God's sight to obey you rather than God.  For we cannot help speaking about what we have seen and heard."

As I have been reading the book of Acts lately, I have been so amazed to learn again how so very passionate the Apostles were about spreading the Word of God.  They are taken before the Sanhedrin and questioned about their speaking and threatened to stop.  However, not only did they not allow that to inhibit their passion, but it made their passion to spread the Word even greater!  As I have read through these Scriptures, I have this sadness inside because I know that I struggle with even having the courage to bring up God in any conversations at all.  Have any of you been there?  Do any of you struggle with the same problem?

If we are truly passionate about something, nothing is going to stop you.  You will find any way you can to pursue your passion at any cost.  Passion just drives people.  It is kind of like an constant source of adrenaline that just keeps going.  Do we have the same passion the Apostles did when speaking to others about Christ?  They were so full of passion that they let nothing stop them.  Persecution came their way, but even the ones who questioned them were amazed that people were praising God as a result of the preaching.  That is awesome!  Lives were being changed and people were coming to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior!

Peter and John stood before the Sanhedrin and spoke powerful words of passion about their intentions of speaking.  They explained that they cannot help but speaking about what they have seen and heard.  They were truly filled with the passion of the Holy Spirit!  This is the same passion that should live inside the heart and soul of every believer in Christ, Amen?

Seems we have lost some passion about sharing God's love in this world.  I know I have myself many times.  I have gotten so caught up doing my own thing that I forget about Who's I am and how much I need to proclaim this life I have to others.  I would encourage each of you to take some time this next week to read through the first few chapters of Acts and observe the true passion these Apostles had for spreading the Gospel of Christ.  It has been encouraging for me and I pray that it would do the same as you read.

Be filled with passion and share His love with others!
