"Killing The Beast"
By Zach Wood
Psalm 34:12-14
Whoever of you loves life and desires to see many good days, keep your
tongue from evil and your lips from speaking lies.  Turn from evil and do good.  Seek peace and pursue it.

Such powerful words from David who had a heart of desire to serve Almighty God.  We should learn much from David's words of wisdom as he encourages us to steer clear from using our tongues and lips to spread evil through our words to others.  There is a so-called "beast" living in all of us.  The beast is lured when someone creates a sudden aggravation during our day.  Whatever the situation, we are tempted to throw off our Godly mindsets and get back at whoever just frustrated us.  We have all been there.

As David strived to serve and love God, he knew it was hard to live that life.  We know that only Jesus Christ can give us strength and stamina to stay strong when faced with the temptation to allow evil and lies to come from our lips and tongues.  If we want to love life and see many good days, we need to heed this advice from David and concentrate on using words of love with others.  I would even go as far as to say that most of us probably struggle more with evil coming from our tongues than lies coming from our lips.  For me personally, I struggle with this area.  Many a time, evil tends to come from my tongue and I always regret saying what I have said to someone else.

Satan loves to strike a chord in our hearts and minds to get us going off on something that really irritates us.  He knows what buttons to push and when to push them.  However, we must always live with the mindset that someone is watching us and waiting to see how we react.  That thought alone should jolt us into re-thinking our actions, words and reactions.  We must honor God with every word that comes from our lips.  When we do so, we kill the beast that tries to win within us.  When we fail to do so, God does offer forgiveness and restoration for us to keep going and serve Him.

Killing the beast  of evil words is hard for us, but we must realize that only God can give us strength to keep our words flowing with love.  I encourage you to keep killing the beast and allow Godly words to flow from your tongue and lips.
