"A New You"
By: Zach Wood
2 Corinthians 5:17
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!

This passage has been racing through my mind for the past few weeks.  As we have come through the new year time, I keep thinking about how I need to put old ways behind me and start living a life dedicated truly to Jesus Christ!  This is not a new concept or any kind of breakthrough.  If we are in Christ, we are a new creation!  If we know this, then why do we not live like we are in Christ?  I am not saying we never live like we are in Christ, but many times, we do not show it through our lifestyle, or choices and the words we use in conversation.

If we are a new creation, there should be something different about who we are.  People we have not seen for a long time should see something unique and different about our lives.  We need reminders each day that helps us realize we are new creatures created in the image of God.  One of these reminders is constantly being in His Word and soaking up the love He wishes to lavish on us.  By knowing Him more through His Word, we come to realize more and more who He is and fall more in love with what He did for us.

A constant reminder to me of being a new creation is my beautiful little girl, Jayda.  Each day with her is a breath of fresh air.  I love coming home from work and seeing her light up when I walk through the door.  It is such a joy to be a father!  God has brought a living being into my life to bring so much joy and beauty.  This year, I want to be a better father, a better husband and a better friend to my family and friends.  I want to grow more than I ever have in my walk with Christ.  I want to discover new things and go deeper in my study of God.

My encouragement for all of us is to think of what new things we could do with our lives this year to bring glory to God and praise Him more.  We are a new creation!  We are made in His image!  The old is gone and done with.  We have a new life in the Father!  He has made each one of us so unique and given us a life to live in worship to Him.

Are you ready for a new you?  I sure am.  You and I are NEW CREATION!
