"Defining Moment"
By: Zach Wood
John 14:6
Jesus answered, "I am the way, the truth and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through me."

There are a lot of ways to do things in life.  Each of us have a way we like doing things.  When we travel, we go one way one time and then maybe another route the next time.  When it comes to our Christian walk, often times we have our own ideas about how we should follow Christ.  We can follow a lot of ways of the world, a lot of truths and other people's lives.  However, Jesus said that there is only one way, only one truth and only one life.  Yes, He really limited the options for how we should live life.  He said either we choose Him or choose the world.  We cannot have it both ways.

I do not know how many of you are aware of the Christian music group "Newsong", but they sing a song titled "Defining Moment".  This song is beautiful in describing how each of us have to come to a point where we choose to follow Christ and realize He is all we really need.  We have watched others show their need for Christ and even heard testimonies of how others have followed Christ.  However, there is a time when each of us have to decide: follow the world or follow Christ.  Maybe you have lived your many years of the Christian faith just going through routines and not really having a true relationship with the living God.  God yearns for each of us to reach out to Him and tell Him that He is all we need and that we want to live for Him more than anything.

We can read the words of Jesus and agree with them.  We can also choose to read them, agree with them and actually live them.  Jesus is not a way, a truth and a life.  He is THE way, THE truth, and THE life.  Absolutely no one comes to life with the Father except through the Son.  It is just not possible.  Perhaps you are reading this devotional and feeling that you need to make a change in your life and totally be sold-out to God from now on.  It is coming to that time of year when we make New Year's resolutions and find ways to change our lives for the Kingdom.  Hopefully, these changes will not just last for a little while, but will last for years and years.

Have you come to that defining moment in your life?  Have you personally come to realize that Jesus Christ is ALL you need?  Is there anything else in life that has become your all in all instead of Christ?  I believe many of us would have to admit to this fault and sin.  We have one true way to follow, one true life to follow and only one true truth to follow.  I am thankful I know that truth, that life and that way.  Now, I just have to work a bit harder to show that I believe it, want to live it and follow it.  Are you with me?  I hope so.
