"We Are His Beloved"

1 John 4:10 (NLT)
This is real love. It is not that we loved God, but that He loved us
and
sent His Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.
This past week, I've listened to a song that has really touched my heart,
"Your Beloved". The words are absolutely beautiful. The more I find myself
listening to it, I'm becoming more and more in awe of the love God has for
me. I can't explain it, but music just does something to my heart and
soul. I've come to realize it's how God has wired me. I've loved music all
my life and especially now as I am constantly reading about worship music in
magazines, books and online. I love listening to worship music on CD and
radio. My wife and I are both deeply moved by worship music.
The chorus of this song goes like this, "I'm Your beloved, Your
creation. And You love me as I am. You've called me chosen for Your
Kingdom. Unashamed to call me Your own. I'm Your beloved". As I listen
and ponder the words, I'm amazed at the love God has for me. But, I'm even
more amazed at the love God has for all His children who has strayed so far
away from Him. That's you and I! We have all strayed from Him in some way
and continue to do so from time to time. However, God shows His real love
to us by telling us we are His beloved. Wow! I don't know about you, but
those words alone, "I'm Your beloved" speak volumes.
I was reading through 1 John a bit last night and came across this
passage. I love how it reads in the New Living Translation. It says that
God's love for us is Real Love. None of us, if we're really honest, can
say we truly understand real love. We say we love our pets, girlfriend or
boyfriend, fiancée, spouse, relative, or close friend, but I don't think we
really understand what real love is all about. Love is all about God and
we'll never understand Him fully. That's just the way it is. God never
made us to understand everything about Him. At least, not until we are home
with Him in heaven. But get this. God says that real love is not about us
loving Him, but about Him loving us. He sent His Son for a tragic,
beautiful sacrifice so that we could be alive in Him and have our sins
washed away. He loved us enough to do all of that for us. He calls us His
beloved. That's a major "WOW" factor!
How does it feel to you to be His beloved? Does that bring a smile to
your face? It should! No matter how committed we are in any loving
relationship with another person, we will never fully know what real love
means. God's love is more than we can comprehend and that's okay. It keeps
us wondering the mystery of His love. And there's nothing wrong with His
love being a mystery. I think it just moves us to worship Him and seek Him
more! Praise God Almighty that He considers us His beloved!
