"In His Timing"
By: Zach Wood
Proverbs 3:5
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own
understanding.
In the past few months, God has been reminding me over and over again how
much I need to depend on Him, lean on Him and not on my own understanding.
As I consider my future becoming a father, God reminds me it's all in His
hands. As I think about how I want to pursue my passion and desire in
devotional writing ministry, music/worship ministry and speaking ministry,
He reminds me it's in His hands. As I'm wondering when our baby is going to
be born, God also reminds me it's in His hands. Timing is always a hard
thing for us to deal with. I don't think there's one person on earth that
doesn't deal with the problem of waiting. When we depend upon God's timing,
things don't seem to happen logically as we think they should happen.
More than anything at this time, I'm getting extremely anxious in
awaiting our newborn baby. I'm excited, nervous, and praying for wisdom as
I support my wife through this experience. We are learning that everything
is in His timing. His timing is beautiful and works out so well. Yes, as
beautiful as His timing is, we still seem to struggle with waiting for God
to act. We fail to wait for His timing and we do things on our own schedule
instead of His. Yeah, how wonderful that turns out, right? We seem to mess
it up every time we take the reigns.
I've used this passage from Proverbs for many devotionals and it always
seems to have a new perspective when I read or think about it. Trusting in
God is difficult and will continue to be difficult as long as we are on this
earth. We just have to learn over and over and over again how to depend on
Him and rely on His timing in life.
Are you finding yourself struggling with life in your own hands? Dealing
with life all by yourself? We all try and we all fail. It's time we learn
better how to turn things over to God and allow Him to take the reigns. We
can't understand all of life. We can only trust that God knows more, is
capable of handling the future and will continue to lead us. Everything is
in His timing.
