"Things Are Gonna Change"
By: Zach Wood
2 Corinthians 5:17
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has
gone, the new has come!
So many years of my life I have looked over and been thankful for the new
creation that Christ has made me. I certainly don't deserve it and I
couldn't ever do anything to make Him love me more. He loves me just as I
am. However, as Max Lucado puts it in his book, "Just Like Jesus", he says
"God loves you the way you are, but he refuses to leave you that way. He
wants you to be just like Jesus." Don't you love those words? God wants
you and I to be like His son, Christ. Nothing less. However, we are sinful
people and we aren't perfect. But, we have a loving God made us a new
creation in Him! Now that's something to be thankful for!
Things are gonna change as you and I live life. New things will come and
life will be different. Sometimes a little different for a while, sometimes
really different for a long time, and then sometimes, totally different for
a lifetime. Well, as some of you know(and if you didn't know I'm telling
you now), my life is totally going to change about a month from now. My
wife and I are expecting our first baby and we are extremely excited! We
are taking a 2 week childbirth class at the hospital where the baby will be
born. Through our first class this past Saturday, I learned a lot! That is
NO exaggeration! I learned that my life is going to be totally transformed
as God places an individual into my responsibility. I will be responsible
for a new creation that God has made inside of my wife's womb. Things are
gonna change!
As I sat there on Saturday in our class, I couldn't help but just fall
more in love with God knowing that He made this child and everything going
on as this child grows is part of His wonderful creation. I am truly in awe
of what He has created and is growing. Needless to say, I'm very ecstatic
and overjoyed to hold my child in my arms. My life is going to be very
different for the rest of my life. My wife and I will no longer be just
husband and wife, but also mom and dad. I went from living a single life,
to married life and now.....to being a dad in a matter of several weeks.
Reality is starting to set in and it's already changing my perspective.
Things are gonna change! And...they're gonna be GREAT!
What new things has God brought into your life recently? Have you
noticed them? Are you taking time to appreciate them? Or are you bypassing
the noticing and focusing on the normal daily routine of life? God wants us
to take note of the new things He is creating in our lives, whether it's a
new baby or if it's something He's doing inside of you personally. He's
always doing something in each of us and around us. Things are gonna
change. What is our attitude toward the changes Christ sets in front of
us? It's up to each one of us to deal with the changes and praise Him
during those changes and for the rest of our lives. We are a new creation
created to give Him praise!
Things are gonna change! Are you ready?
