"Choose To Praise"
By: Zach Wood
Deuteronomy 32:3-4
I will proclaim the name of the Lord.  Oh, praise the greatness of our God!  He is the Rock, his works are perfect, and all his ways are just.  A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is he.

Last week, I was reading this passage for my morning devotional time and I my heart was lifted.  I thought about how totally wonderful and awesome our God truly is!  However, it is solely our choice and decision to give God praise and adoration.  As the beginning of this passage says, "I will".  When you read that Scripture, think about a choice that you are personally making to praise and adore God for who He is.  It is a choice you are making to glorify Him and please Him with your life and all you do.  I think in life, we forget that it's a choice to praise Him.  We get into so much of a routine that we do things without realizing what we're actually doing.  We just go to church.  We just go to bible study.  We just go to Sunday School.  We are not supposed to just "go", we're supposed to do something for Him!  We choose to bring praises and songs to our glorious God!

Many times in life, we do not choose to praise Him.  Those are times when we get angry, say things we don't mean, get bad attitudes, do things we shouldn't do and go places we shouldn't go.  In these times and instances, we are choosing to please our flesh and not our Savior.  Doesn't it feel so much better to praise God and adore Him instead of pleasing our flesh with worldly things?  It should.  God is worthy to be praised.  His name is great!  He is our Rock and our Fortress!  His works are absolutely perfect and His ways are just.  He is faithful to us and does no wrong.  Now, that is a God who truly deserves praise, amen?

We can all personally choose reasons not to praise God each day.  It happens.  We wake up grumpy and are feeling fowl all day long.  Do we think that's praising God?  No.  Perhaps we yell at our children and say things to them we regret.  I'm sure that really does not please God.  There are so many things we choose to do each day and our attitudes sometimes are so far away from pleasing Him and it breaks His heart.  After all that He's done for us and continues to do, He more than deserves our praise!  Learn from the Song of Moses and make the choice to proclaim the name of the Lord!  Praise His greatness.  Like Paul says in 1 Thessalonians 5:17, to "pray without ceasing", we should also "praise without ceasing".
