"The Power Belongs To Him"
By: Zach Wood
1 Chronicles 29:12
Wealth and honor come from you; you are the ruler of all things.
In your hands are strength and power to exalt and give strength to
all.
We continue with David's prayer this week as He makes the praise that God
is the true giver of wealth, honor, strength and power. These are things
which God wants to bless us with and lavish upon us. However, we need to
use these things to advance His Kingdom and not our own lives. Seems this
world has a strong addiction to the power of money. Do you think we might
fall into that trap? Yes, I think so. Sadly so, we grasp onto money more
than we like to admit. Come on, we all fall into the trap of wanting more
and more. The funny thing is, God doesn't frown upon wealth in itself.
It's how people use the money they are given. I have known many people who
use their wealth to further God's Kingdom. God blesses us sometimes with a
little more money here and there so that we might use that to please Him by
helping others. Sometimes, He blesses us with money so that we can get some
debts paid off that we've been behind on. We've all been there, haven't
we? The point here is that wealth should be seen and appreciated as a
blessing, not as a source of power.
The only strength and power we should seek in life is His. If we surrender
to God all that we are and all that we have, He will give us strength and
power beyond our wildest imagination. Steven Curtis Chapman sings a song,
"Great Expectations". In the song he says, "Believe the unbelievable.
Receive the inconceivable. And see beyond my wildest imagination. Lord, I
come with great expectations". What a message for us! We need to come to
expect great things from God when we give ourselves completely to Him. He
blesses us with money, strength and power to use in making His Kingdom
grow! He will give us the strength to do things beyond what we've
ever imagined! But, we must turn all the power over to Him and not rely on
our own power. Just like the people that gave to the building of the
temple. People gave of their wealth and possessions and God used those
things in great ways to build a temple.
We need to let God use the great things in our lives to make His
Kingdom shine greater and brighter! It's truly amazing that He chooses to
use the things in our lives, that He gives us, to bring Him glory and help
us see Him more clearly. Now that's a God I really cannot comprehend. And
that's okay. I don't need to understand His power and His glory. One day I
will and you will as well. Let us always remember that the power belongs
solely to Him!
