"Our Main Source Of Help"
By: Zach Wood
Psalm 124:8
Our help is in the name of the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.
Who do you usually go to when you need help with something? Depending on where
you are, you probably go to your boss, a co-worker, friend, mom, dad,
brother/sister, or spouse. You want to go to someone you feel is worthy enough
to give you some guidance and direction. It's good to know that we can put our
trust in someone we know and appreciate. However, no matter how important and
trustworthy we hold some people to be and how trustworthy they might actually
always be to us, no one fully knows the answers and has the advice in life like
our Heavenly Father. Wouldn't you agree?
It's good to have the opportunity to go to others for help, but our ultimate
help MUST come from God. No one else knows us and our situation(s) like He
does. It's so easy for us to rely on people around us to give us all the
answers. Believe me, I've been there and still struggle often with relying on
others for all my answers instead of going to the Source of knowledge and
direction.
I love the second part of this passage, "the Maker of heaven and earth". I
don't know about you, but I don't mind putting all my trust into someone who
created the heaven and the earth. No one else could have done such a thing, so
He must be a pretty trustworthy source to go to. God gives us each other to
help, guide, advise and direct. However, we must remember that our ultimate
help and guide needs to always be our Father in Heaven. People around us might
always have some kind of advice, but they are not always right in what they
suggest.
When in need, we need to always consult our Father for help first before those
around us.
