"God's Consistency"
By: Zach Wood
Psalm 66:20
Praise be to God, who has not rejected my prayer or withheld his love from me!
Have you ever felt like your prayers are ignored? Do you ever sense that maybe God has better things to do than listen to your needs and concerns? Don't be afraid to admit such a thought or mindset, because if you have felt this way, you are not alone with these questions. No matter how hard I try in my daily life, I sometimes feel like God is not listening or really tending to what needs I have to be filled. However, there is also the fact that how I feel and what I think of Him will never change who He is.
Now isn't that interesting? The first time I heard a statement like that, it really shook me up. I never considered the fact that I can think what I want to about God and have the freedom to do so. However, that will NEVER change the fact that He is God, He is real and He is perfect in all His ways.
I would hope to assume that you are thankful God is consistent in His Word, unlike this world we live in. God may be mysterious and completely uncomprehendable during many phases of our lives, but that's just how He works. He knows we cannot understand all of His character. We have His Word, yes, but that doesn't mean we will always grasp what He is doing in us, through us and with us.
No matter how you are feeling right now about a prayer you have lifted up or if you are questioning God's love in the midst of incredible pain and sorrow, that doesn't change the fact that God does love you and cares deeply for you. We all know, even though it's hard to endure, that these hard times in life are God's way of making our faith strong. He's taken ordinary people throughout the Bible and made them incredible leaders just because they believed God knew what He was doing. Sure, times were rough for them quite often. But they felt the call of God to endure and trust, even when they didn't understand. They trust God's consistency. And......so should we.
Give praise to God! He hears our prayers and showers His love down on us daily. He just doesn't respond and work in the ways we expect and anticipate. He's always miles and galaxies ahead of us.
Trust in God's consistency.
