"Living Water Hook-Up"
By: Zach Wood
John 4:15
The woman said to him, "Sir, give me this water so that I won't get thirsty and have to keep coming here to draw water."

Many people have filtered water system hook-ups, such as Brita or Pur, in their homes today. These unique water system filters are used to filter out what is unhealthy for our bodies to consume. It may filter out iron, copper, chlorine or other chemicals which leave the water tasting nasty and unpleasant to consume. No one likes to drink water which looks junky or like it came from a rusted pipe. I have a Brita pitcher and I consume much water from it every day. Would it make sense for me to go down to the grocery store and buy bottled water when I already have "the source" working in my home? When I say "the source", I am talking about the purification system which filters out what my body should not be consuming. I don't have to try to purify the water myself, the filter system automatically separates any possible hazardous chemicals from entering my body.

In our spiritual lives, we tend to look for other water hook-ups or sources when we have what we need right in front of us. Jesus Christ offers living water for us to taste and drink. It's better than any purified, drinking or spring water we could ever get our hands on from pitcher or the grocery store. The woman at the well in this passage seriously desired what Jesus was offering. She desired to have the true "living water" hook-up which wouldn't leave her dry only to go hunt for more. Why do we pass up the living water so much and fill out hearts and minds with the junky water which the world provides? The junky water leaves us with a terrible taste in our mouths and also the desire to hunt for anything that might take the nasty taste away. This junky water includes anything which takes us away from God. The bottom line is, you DON'T want nasty water, so you will do what you can to get the purified water. In our daily walk with Christ, we should also desire that purified, living water that will cleanse us and purify our hearts and minds.

The necessary hook-up is right within our hearts. A direct line, not trickling, but pouring and gushing from the source which never runs dry. A continuous feed of true living water which will satisfy us for eternity.

Hook up. Don't junk up.
