"God's Size Overcomes ALL Obstacles"
By: Zach Wood
Numbers 13:33
We saw the Nephilim there. We seemed like grasshoppers in our own eyes, and
we looked the same to them.
I was reading from my devotional last week and came across this Scripture passage. The devotion was talking about certain "giants" and obstacles in our lives and how we should deal with them. I immediately took a memory voyage to times during my life when I've been scared of situations because they seemed to complicated, challenging or impossible. I admit I gave up one too many times when I probably had great opportunities to learn something new and surpass obstacles which God was able to help me overcome.
We have seen the same in movies and TV shows we watch. Someone who looks like a toothpick is up against some huge giant with muscles and biceps bigger than a football. Possibly we have encountered some people who have intimidated us into retreating from moving forward and being courageous. These situations make us feel worthless, hopeless and powerless for anything. We can think back to David and Goliath and the obstacle there. However, David believed God would use him and there was ultimate victory!
We've got all kinds of machines, products, vitamins and goods that promise to bring us super-natural strength and power to overcome obstacles that try to invade our health and well-being. However, there are certain times when we look at a situation we're up against or problem we have encountered and immediately retreat because we lose faith that anything could work to our good. We encounter a giant or a bully that tells us to give up and give in to what the world flows with. It's easier....SO much easier. But, God's strength and abilities make the obstacles we face here seem like an ant in a forest.
As Christians, we need to be reminded that no obstacles is too great for God to handle. Our eyes will deceive us and that is why God gave us faith. We need that faith to help us overcome when our eyes see a "spiritual" giant which tempts us to retreat to the world's ways. Just remember the faith little David had and how he overcame Goliath. When we encounter obstacles, we need to remember God will give us unbelievable strength to overcome and press on in ways we never imagine or thought were possible.
